It was a slower week for me quilting as my husband was out of town, my baby was sick, and my mom was visiting.
Tuesday I went to my first guild meeting and joined our local NWA Modern Quilt Guild. So excited!! Before the meeting we viewed a near by exihit of Crazy Quilts at Rogers Historical Museum.
Wednesday I finished squaring up all the petals I have made on Chic County and put her up on the design wall. Good news is my addtional fabric is set to show up tomorrow 3/23 so I can continue on this project.
I did all the finally calculations for cutting and piecing on Chic County so I am ready once the new fabrics arrive.
While mom was here I helped her piece a back, sandwich, and straight line quilt her quilt. (She had pieced to top together during her last visit) My mom is a ceramic artist and this is her first quilt. I think she was relieved when she finished the quilting! (She expressed a new found respect of the work us quilters do.) We will work on the binding next time she visits.
Friday I designed my next project while I was on hold with Chic County, a Tula Pink Elizabeth Dresden Mini. Back in November with the #getyourquiltywishesgranted hasttag I had wished for a Elizabeth Selfie to make a mini for myself. My granter from Whimsical and Whitty sent me about a third yard of the Selfie fabric in Sky and Chain Mail fabric in Plum along with a complete charm pack that had a few more partial selfies. In January I picked up some other fabrics from the Elizabeth line which worked nicely here as background fabric. I worked on this all weekend and am ready to make a back. It measures 28 inches square so I plan to practice some free motion quilting on it. I am happy with how it turned out. it was my first Dreden plate and I really enjoyed it.
